Traditional architecture, dramatic Mayan sculpture gardenThis used to be Armando's home in the early days of Cancun. Now air-conditioned and enlarged, it is a pleasant and romantic place with intimate, candle-lighted atmosphere. Great mural by Miguel Castro in garden. Anita and I flipped over deep-fried corn-meal breaded chicken breasts stuffed with cheese and spinach (served Fridays and Sundays only) but it's all tasty and the portions are ample. Yaxchilán Excellent Mexican food in friendly place.Tacos al pastor -- shepherd-style are the top choice here, made with spit-barbecued tender pork sliced off to your order. Good service, modest prices and unpretentious atmosphere. Highly recommended. TacoloteCobá 19, and Alcatraces, S.M. 22, across from Social Security Hospital about three blocks from Av. Tulum. Old-fashioned Mexican country barbecueTacolote specializes in traditional country-style woodfire barbeque dishes in a festive and colorful Mexican atmosphere. This is simple, hearty and excellent cooking at popular prices, prepared and served under the ever-vigilant supervision of the proprietors. We especially enjoyed the alambre (beef or chicken tacos accompanied by melted cheese, grilled onions and green pepper). |
